Abstract
The relationship of wing form to habitat and seasonality was studied in 10 spp. of Nearctic Gerris F. [G. alacris, G. argenticollis, G. buenoi, G. comatus, G. insperatus, G. canaliculatus, G. dissortis, G. conformis, G. remigis and G. marginatus] (Hemiptera:Heteroptera). Species dimorphic and polymorphic in wing form apparently are associated with lentic habitats. The 1 nearly monomorphologically apterous macropterous sp. is significantly related in its occurrence to lotic habitats. The relative instability of the lentic habitat apparently has facilitated the evolution of different wing morphs in Gerris. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
