Abstract
The electrical resistivity has been measured from 1.3° to 20°K on solid solutions of Gd, Tb, and Ho in Au. It was found that the resistivity decreased with decreasing temperature with no evidence of a resistance minimum. However, the resistivity showed a more pronounced decrease in the temperature range 6°–3.5°K. These results are discussed in terms of the Kondo theory. It was also found that the residual resistivity, ρ(4.2°K), is proportional to the concentration of rare earths for the Gd, Tb, and Ho alloys. Furthermore, the proportionality constant is the same for the three sets of alloys indicating ionic (trivalent) scattering as the main contribution to the residual resistivity. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
