Abstract
The authors have developed a new optical transmission coding scheme called OMODS (optical modified duobinary signal) for long-distance, high-speed optical transmission systems, that is effective in reducing degradation in an optical pulse caused by the optical fibre's chromatic dispersion and fluctuations in the transmitting signal's mark ratio. Computer simulations and experiments have demonstrated the effectiveness of this coding method. Keywords
