Abstract
Several microinstruction formats which utilize hybrid combinations of horizontal and vertical formats are described. The microinstruction plus nanoinstruction format of two machines is described, and the existing nanocode of the Nanodata QM-1 is statistically analyzed. This analysis shows that the present encoding of these instructions is optimal for the flexible machine architecture.Keywords
