Abstract
Fertiliser experiments with Festuca novae-zelandiae were carried out in pots, under glasshouse conditions, with Tekoa steepland soil from Bealey. Tussock plants responded to applications of phosphorus and, to a less extent, of potassium and sulphur. Phosphorus in combination with nitrogen gave a four- to five-fold increase in crop yields over one year. Yields were further increased by additions of potassium and sulphur.
