Abstract
The fragmentation of 46 kinds of N-trifluoroacetyl-L-prolyl amino acid n-butyl ester on electron impact was investigated for the ultramicrodetermination of amino acids by mass fragmentography. The ion at m/e 166 is the common and base peak for most for the amino acids. Characteristic ions for each .alpha.-amino acid are observed at m/e (M-101) or (R+29). Using mass fragmentography monitored at m/e 166, about 10-10 g of amino acids can be detected.
