Abstract
An F19magnetic resonance study of polycrystallineuranium hexafluoride as a function of temperature and magnetic field is presented. The low temperature spectra are resolvable into two symmetric components, demonstrating the existence of two nonequivalent sets of U–F bonds. At higher temperatures the two resonances coalesce in spite of the fact that the magnetic susceptibility of UF6 is temperature independent. The possible origin of this effect is discussed. Keywords
