Abstract
Standards for the carpal angle, as defined by Kosowicz, have been developed in American blacks and whites. It was found that the carpal angle was altered by many factors. The carpal angle is much larger in ulnar than in radial deviation. It is greater in blacks than in whites, it increases with age during childhood and at most ages is slightly greater in males than in females. The angle is slightly greater on the left than on the right. Congenital malformation syndromes also affect the carpal angle and these new standards should be useful in diagnosis. Keywords
