Quantum Dissipation, Friction due to the Interaction with Chaotic Bath and the Correspondence Principle

Abstract

We want to establish the ohmic nature of dissipation along with the associated fluctuation-dissipation (FD) relation within the framework of quantum mechanics. A dimensionless parameter distinguishes between the perturbative route and the semiclassical route towards quantal-classical correspondence. A puzzle concerning the applicability of random matrix theory (RMT) is resolved.
