Abstract
In the control groups (saline-injected), whole-body X-irradiation increased I131 uptake by the thyroids and by the protein-bound iodine. In AET-injected groups, whole-body X-irradiation decreased I131 uptake by the thyroids and by the protein-bound iodine and increased serum-I131. in both nonirradiated and X-irradiated rats AET decreased I131 uptake by the thyroid and protein-bound iodine, but increased serum Il31 value. If the lowered iodine uptake by the thyroid and by the serum proteins results in a lowered basal metabolic rate, it may complement other radioprotective actions of AET.This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
