Abstract
Starting from first principles of quantum statistics a system of differential equations is derived by use of a time dependent projector technique. It describes the evolution of electron‐ and phonon temperatures in noble metal layers in the macroscopic thermalized (hydrodynamic) stage. Within numerical model calculations for gold results are obtained for the relaxation time which are in satisfying agreement with experimental measurements. Keywords
