Kidneys were found to be significantly enlarged both by radiographic examination and by weight at autopsy in diabetic patients. No correlation was found between kidney size and the duration of diabetes which indicates that kidneys remain large late in the course of the disease. The possible mechanisms for the kidney enlargement are discussed.
