Abstract
Gourlay & Morris (1970) presented a multistep formulation of a scheme proposed by Strang (1968) for the numerical solution of non-linear hyperbolic systems. This formulation did not take account of given boundary data and led to instability in certain problems. This note presents boundary techniques for the incorporation of the given boundary data and in numerical experiments, it is shown that the instabilities, which arose in the problems of Gourlay & Morris, are prohibited.
