Abstract
The effect of immunization with twice crystallized preparations of chicken and bovine cytochrome c is reported. Serum obtained from a rabbit immunized with chicken cytochrome c gave a weak reaction with chicken cytochrome c in a mixed hemadsorption test. Serum from a rabbit immunized with bovine cytochrome c did not give a corresponding reaction with bovine cytochrome c but reacted with bovine serum components. The latter antibodies had probably arisen as a response to traces of bovine serum proteins in the cytochrome preparation. The results are in support of the contention that cytochrome c is a very poor immunogen. Keywords
