Plasma sheath around a floating cylindrical antenna at high power

Abstract
At high frequencies the time-averaged effect of the radiation field near an antenna is to add the term a2E2(r) to the Coulomb potential. Its inclusion in a self-consistent Poisson–Vlasov analysis shows that a high power antenna may acquire a strong positive floating potential.Electron, ion, and potential profiles are obtained from numerical calculations and the effect on antenna impedance is discussed. Time taken to acquire positive potentials is estimated.
