Abstract
Room temperature operation of a two-dimensional (2D) photonic crystal defect-waveguide laser with an InGaAsP multiple quantum well active layer with low threshold optical pumping is demonstrated. It is identified that the lasing oscillation occurs at the band edge of the line-defect-waveguide mode (J point). Keywords
