Abstract
The addition of iodate or orthoperiodate ions to red perchlorate solutions of iridium(IV) gives an insoluble blue precipitate of stoicheiometry IrIO8H7, which can be dehydrated to IrlO6H3. A structure, is suggested which involves an iodato-bridge, IO3(OH)3, between two iridium atoms. Keywords
