Abstract
The immunohistochemical specificity of the Mueller cell of the chicken retina was studied by the indirect immunoperoxidase bridge method with glial acidic protein antiserum. The Mueller cell apparently contains the acidic protein characteristic of astrocytes, oligodendroglia and the Bergmann cell. The ependymal cell does not contain the glial acidic protein. The Mueller cell derived from the glioblast apparently is not a modified ependymal cell but is more closely related to astrocytes and oligodendroglia. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
