Abstract
Residual groups of hair follicles and unusual "tufts" of multiple hairs emerging from single follicular openings have been described in scarring alopecia associated with staphylococcal infection. Various mechanisms have been proposed to explain these findings. Histological study of four cases suggests that retention of telogen hairs through several hair cycles may be responsible for this phenomenon. Keywords
