Trichophyton Rubrum Perifolliculitis on Amputation Stump

Abstract
A case of Trichophyton rubrum perifolliculitis on an amputation stump is reported. An occlusive plastic prosthesis predisposed to infection at this site. Histopathologic examination revealed numerous intrafollicular and perifollicular spores lying in masses and singly. Some of the individual spores exhibited radiate body formation. This is the first time this has been observed with T rubrum.
