Abstract
The photolysis of several ferrocenyl ethers in methanol yields products formed from α-ferrocenyl free radicals and α-ferrocenyl carbocations. The influence of adventitious acid on the reaction has been studied and the conditions for the optimisation of the radical reaction have been established. Possible mechanisms for the reaction are discussed.Keywords
