Abstract
Experiments concerning the transmission of 400 kev protons through crystals of gold 200 Å to 300 Å thick are described. The patterns observed have not been seen previously and are dominated by the channelled component for perpendicular incidence. Angular widths are greater than would be expected on the basis of the Lindhard (1965) theory. Multiple scattering is shown to be separable into nuclear and electronic components. Keywords
