Abstract
The author applies the single site CPA to the calculations of the phonons in disordered shell models. Both the masses of the atoms and the coupling constants between the cores and the shells are assumed to be randomly distributed. Formulas for the neutron-scattering cross section and for the phonon density of states are derived. An illustrative numerical example is given. Keywords
