Abstract
A microtasking algorithm is developed on a CRAY Y-MP 8/864 machine for optimization of framed structures subjected to displacement and stress constraints using the optimality criterion approach. Speedup results are presented for three frame examples. The efficiency of the microtasking algorithm is shown to improve with the size of the structure, making it particularly suitable for minimum weight design of large structures consisting of several hundred (or thousand) members. Keywords
