Abstract
The majority of women suffer from nausea and vomiting in the first trimester of pregnancy, but the mechanisms and reasons for this are unknown. Based on our current understanding of the emetic response and physiological changes of early pregnancy, hypotheses are put forward to explain this apparently inappropriate response to conception.Keywords
