To the Editor: In the course of the past year I have occasionally been called on to evaluate a polycythemic patient for a therapeutic phlebotomy. As part of my evaluation I inquire about the patient's previous work history. Being in the military, I was accustomed to hearing about various assignments and war stories; however, radar maintenance was a recurring subject.During that year I noted the histories and approved the indicated phlebotomies.
