Abstract
Presentation of Case First admission. A 67-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of dyspnea.She had been well until six years previously, when a cardiac murmur was first found on a routine examination. One year before admission she became aware of exertional dyspnea, which progressed to the extent that she could not climb more than one flight of stairs. Eight months before admission she began to experience a "tight" sensation in the neck when walking up a minimal inclination. Two months later, after exertion, she almost fainted.
