Abstract
The hypothesis was tested that the source of lack of congruent validity on same-named scales of the SVIB and KOIS lay in differences in sampling of the criterion groups. From answer sheets of 220 librarians, new SVIB and KOIS librarian keys were formed. When old and new scales were scored for an unselected sample of college students, no appreciable increase in the congruent validities was observed, and the hypothesis was not borne out. High correlation between old and new versions on each inventory suggested (for this occupational group) that similar scales can he formed on a single inventory from different portions of the criterion group at different points in time.
