Abstract
Measurement of the concentration coefficient of viscosity of mixtures of small concentrations of organic vapour in permanent gases enables the molecular dimensions of organic molecules in the gas phase to be determined and measured with accuracy. The differences in size caused by chainbranching, substitutions, and other structural features are examined. The results are correlated with gas-chromatographically-determined partition coefficients of the vapours between a perfect gas phase and a solution phase in a non-polar solvent. Keywords
