Abstract
Low-temperature polarized crystal spectra of the [V(urea)6]3+ ion are presented and discussed. In many ways they closely resemble those seen in V3+/Al2O3. The ground-state splitting of A23 has been established by both optical and magnetic means and is reported as 6.0 ± 0.5 cm−1. The source of spectral intensity is almost entirely due to the influence of the static, odd crystal field. Keywords
