Abstract
We have studied the threshold production and decay angular distribution of neutral charmed mesons produced in annihilation. We find consistency with the expected spin values of 0 and 1 for the ground and excited states and , respectively. We rule out the alternative spin assignment of 1 for the and 0 for the .
