Abstract
Ferromagnetic iron sulfide Fe2S3 of spinel‐type structure was synthesized chemically. The crystal structure of this sulfide was geometrically similar to that of γ‐Al2O3 and γ‐Fe2O3 containing vacancies. The formula was postulated as a vacancy structure isomorphous with The magnetic characteristics of this sulfide were similar to those of greigite Fe3S4.
