Abstract
A decrease in the serum Ca conc, amounting to about 50% in 72 hrs. was observed in nephrectomized-parathyroidec-tomized dogs. No similar decrease was observed in nephrec-tomized controls. The serum inorganic P and NPN were markedly elevated in both groups. The evidence presented indicates that the parathyroid gland exerts an influence on Ca metabolism that is independent of the kidneys. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
