Chondromyxoid Fibroma: First Report of Occurrence of This Tumor in Vertebral Column

Abstract
The 1st occurrence of chondromyxoid fibroma in the vertebral column is reported. This tumor originates in cartilage forming connective tissue. Because of myxoid and chondroid elements and cellular and nuclear variations, the tumor may be mistaken for a myxosarcoma or chondrosarcoma. In the case reported, the tumor involved the laminal arches and pedicles of the upper dorsal vertebrae and produced symptoms by spinal cord compression. The patient''s symptoms rapidly disappeared following removal of the tumor.
