Abstract
Complexes of the type ML2, where M = Ni(II), Pd(II) or Cd(II) and HL = 2-methylthio- or isopropylthio- or butylthio-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole, have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, i.r. and 13 C NMR spectral and magnetic susceptibility data. The ligands exist predominantly in the thione form in the solid state and in DMSO solution. Both thione-thiol forms are, however, present in concentrated chloroform solutions. The i.r. spectral data show involvement of both N and S in bonding with metal ions.
