Abstract
A radioautographic method was used to locate specific binding sites for biologically active iodinated calcitonin in rats. The results show that the subfornical organ of the brain, a suspected water regulating organ, is a specific target for calcitonin. The hormone predominantly binds to processes of tanycytes, suggesting that these ependymal cells play an intermediate role between the endocrine and nervous systems. Keywords
