Abstract
A fatal case of intoxication by thiocyanate used in treatment of hypertension is reported. Review of the literature indicates that thiocyanate may cause dermatitis, psychotic symptoms, thyroid enlargement, thrombophlebitis, convulsive twitchings and death. Deaths have occurred in patients with blood levels of 3.3, 4.2 and 7 mg.%. Thiocyanate is considered potentially dangerous. Keywords
