Abstract
With the development of power reactors, comes the problem of safe and economical disposal of the radioactive wastes produced in the processing of reactor fuels. One of the many aspects of the disposal problem is the toxic effect of the materials, and of the accompanying radiations on the flora and fauna of an area. Not only has it become necessary to evaluate the effects, primarily of the ionizing radiation, on the complex inter-relationships that exist within a given biological community, but also detailed information on single species populations is badly needed.
