Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between factor structures obtained when respondents rated the “frequency” and “importance” of leisure activities. Utilizing three combined samples (visitors to Old Sturbridge Village, Friends of Old Sturbridge Village and a general population survey) data on the frequency with which respondents engaged in 20 leisure activities and the importance they attached to these activities were obtained. Results indicate that the factor structures obtained for the frequency of participation and the importance of the activities are very similar, each yielding three factors which were labeled cultural, organizational and sports/games. Implications of these findings are then discussed. Keywords
