Abstract
We discuss the relationship between the Green's function and the Brueckner expansions for the binding energy of nuclear matter. The origin of spurious-looking graphs which appear in the Green's function expansion is elucidated. Numerical values are given in the case of the Hamman-Ho-Kim nucleon-nucleon interaction. We point out the existence of a striking analogy between the Green's function and the correlated basis functions approaches. Keywords
