Abstract
In human adrenal tumor tissue the activity was measured of the 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, 11β-hydroxylase, 21-hydroxylase, C17-20-lyase and aromatase. HPLC techniques were used for substrate and product determination. The results of these in vitro studies were compatible with the clinical findings. In 2 patients with congenital adrenal hyperplasia due to, respectively, an 11β- and a 21 -hydroxylase deficiency, the enzyme defect was also expressed in the tumor (adenoma). Keywords
