Abstract
A bibliographic retrieval package developed on the database management system (DBMS), dBASE II, under the CP/M operating system is described, together with its use by the author. The background to its development and a discussion of the DBMS approach is included. The system is intended for use by non-trained staff and its acceptance of a wide range of document types makes it ideal for use in special libraries. The article demonstrates how general purpose software may be utilized by information units. Keywords
