Abstract
The binding energy of is calculated by using a wave function of the exponential type with a central Yukawa interaction, both neutral and symmetric exchange characters being considered. The neutral interaction leads to a large excess binding energy whereas the symmetric case gives much too small a value, for a particular set of nuclear parameters. The contribution to the energy from the central part of the neutral and symmetric types of Pease-Feshbach interaction is also determined.
