NEMA PARASITES IN EMBRYO BATS

Abstract
Nematode larvae were found in 11 out of 17 embryos of Glossophaga soricina. In primitive streak stages or earlier they were in the yolksac, in older embryos they were in the amnion cavity. They probably enter the embryo by boring through the placenta from the maternal blood vessels. They are tentatively identified as strongylid larvae.
