Abstract
A task force of the International Work Group on Death, Dying, and Bereavement has formulated a set of assumptions and principles, presented here, which it believes should underlie any set of standards for hospice care an institution might develop. The social work member of the task force to this document presents these assumptions and principles and discusses the specific contribution of social work to the care of the dying. Keywords
