Identification of occupational groups with economic and social class.

Abstract
Over 3,000 interviews were classified into 8 classes by income and occupation. Tables are presented analyzing the social and economic identifications of persons in June, 1941. A majority of Americans of all occupational classes identify themselves with the middle social class, even while admitting a lower or higher income status. Discrepancy between social and income identification is less for persons possessing a car or a telephone. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
