Abstract
The two-band quantum-mechanical model of Phillips and Van Vechten is applied to the calculation of the second-order susceptibility. The theory contains no adjustable parameters and gives the correct sign and reasonable agreement with measured magnitudes of second-harmonic coefficients for nine zinc-blende crystals. Keywords
