Abstract
A range of sensitivities exhibited by Escherichia coli O157 to cefixime and potassium tellurite are demonstrated. The sensitivity was shown by growth on cefixime tellurite sorbitol MacConkey agar and by the effect on the metabolic activity in glucuronate trimethylamine‐oxide conductance broth. These antimicrobials are regularly used in the isolation of this pathogen from food and clinical specimens, and such sensitivity may lead to the reporting of false negative samples. Keywords
