Choosing a mattress: research findings

Abstract
The use of effective, pressure-relieving equipment for the prevention and management of pressure sores is now widely accepted, as success largely depends on the reduction and redistribution of pressure away from vulnerable areas such as bony prominences. The most basic, but arguably the most important item of this equipment, is the hospital mattress. Every patient admitted to hospital will lie on one at some point.
