Abstract
Neither ICSH nor follicle-stimulating hormone exerts a demonstrable effect upon the penetration of the two substrates mentioned into cells of rabbit testicular slices in vitro. The same slices were shown to respond to ICSH in vitro by increased incorporation of acetate-1-C14 into testosterone. These findings are considered to support the contention that gonadotropic hormones do not stimulate steroidbiosynthesis in the testis by increasing the permeability of testicular cells to essential substrates.
